Who
are you?
My name's
Vicki Paull (or I also go by the name of Wikivic
online ^_^ ). I'm 26 years old and based in Cambridge, UK.
As well as
CLM, I have 2 or 3 other manga-inspired comic projects in the
pipelines, and am just waiting on enough time to work on them
more!
I have a background
in art and design, with a BTEC Art and Design Foundation Diploma
from Cheltenham and Gloucester College of Higher Education (now
the University of Gloucestershire) and a BA (Hons) in Interior
Design from Bournemouth University.
I have worked
in architecture/interior refurbishment of commercial properties
for a few years (as a CAD techician/surveyor) but am hoping to
change career paths into 2D/3D graphics for the computer games
industry... *resumes manic training regime*
How
did CLM Training Academy start? Where did you get your ideas from?
CLM was a
couple of months in the planning, as being my 1st comic project
I really needed a kick to get it started - luckily winning a set
of markers in the artist's alley competition at Amecon 06 meant
I had the tools (and motivation ^_~) to start the comic!
My ideas are
a bit random...a lot of them I think up on the spur of the moment,
like certain characters or scenarios, then I need to write them
down snappily! Others are thanks to inspiration from my friends
and family (mainly BaneMoo and Wren...crazy, crazy people! XD
)
What
materials do you use to draw CLM Training Academy?
I sketch the
strips out in a 0.7 B mechanical pencil, go over the sketch with
fineliners (I like a 0.5 for thick outlines, then a 0.3 and a
0.1 for details...), I rub out the sketch, scan the linework into
my computer (just in case of colouring disasters), then i colour
each strip using Letraset Tria markers.
Do you
accept fanart submissions to the site?
Of course
- I'd be honoured! Just contact me via deviantArt (if you have
an account there) or email a copy to me at vicki.paull@tesco.net
Also, if you
have a piece of fanart but don't want it posted up on the site,
just let me know - I'd still love to see it! XD
I will also
be including fanarts in the printed copies of the comic (the first
1 or 2 issues will be out during the next year), so you might
even see your work in (albiet probably crappy black and white)
print! ^^
Can
I use your artwork for myself on the web? (i.e. avatars/websites/backgrounds
etc.)
I would appreciate
it if you would ask me before using any of my images, this doesn't
mean I'll say no! I'd just like to know what you want to do with
them...
Otherwise
all CLM strips and characters are Copyright of Vicki Paull 2008-9
and it would be pretty crappy of anyone to nick them without letting
me know ;_;
